Create your Google Sheet
Family Budget stores all your data in a Google Sheet that you own. Nobody else can see it — not even us.

Sign in with your Google account if prompted

Click Blank spreadsheet to create a new sheet

Name it anything you like — e.g. "Family Budget"

Connect your sheet
This step lets Family Budget read and write to your Google Sheet. Copy and paste the code below — it takes about 5 minutes.

In your Google Sheet click Extensions → Apps Script

Click Save (the floppy disk icon)

Click Deploy → New deployment

Click the gear icon → select Web app

Set Execute as to "Me" and Who has access to "Anyone"

Click Deploy and copy the Web app URL

Paste the URL you copied from Google Apps Script. We'll test the connection to make sure everything is working.

Personalize your app
Set a PIN to protect your budget and give it a name. Both people in your household use the same PIN.

Add Family Budget to your home screen
Family Budget is a browser-based app — not from the App Store. That means no forced updates, no subscriptions, and it works on any device. Add it to your home screen and it looks and feels just like a real app.
